TAPAK
"It is in giving that we receive."
HISTORY

To give a brief history, we started our Organization through our founder, Edwin Banas Jr. a Grade 9 sacristan of the parish church of Silang, Cavite, in February of 2019. With his classmates, they decided to collect donations and bought bread and water for the beggars outside the school. It was successful but the project was stopped because all of them became busy with their school requirements. In August 2019, he was approached by the Christian Values and Integration Office Coordinator, Mdme. Vilma Mallari, to rebuild his project, with the help of his fellow Grade 10 students whom he encouraged to join his mission that eventually became our mission.
Feeling motivated and compassionate, we started to imagine and brainstorm about the mission we will do. We thought of how we can help and make an impact on the less fortunate people of our community. We initiated group meetings to talk. We planned to get funds by actively asking for the cooperation of the students of the IJA. We thought of making boxes to put in each section where anyone is willingly able to put any amount they wanted to share. Because of the strong unity and compassion of everyone, we made it work, and that’s how our mission started.
The works of TAPAK started by introducing “TAPAK boxes” to six sections of Grade 10. The box goes around the classroom and anyone can put any amount they are willing to give. The TAPAK team continuously had meetings. At last, we decided to make the plan real on December 8, 2019, in the Sitio of Guitasin, Kaong, Silang, Cavite. We planned for the supplies that we will buy. Christmas is just around the block, that’s why we thought of making the children happy in Sitio Guitasin by managing a Christmas party. We decided to give food and held a session where the children can know more about God.
December 29, 2019, we have reached the Sitio of Guitasin and made the project successful. Meanwhile, in January 2020, we bought supplies that evacuation centers need due to the eruption of the Taal Volcano. We donated it to the school which will donate it to the Tahanan ng Mabuting Pastol in Tagaytay.
Mission

Our mission is anchored to JEEPGY. We shared it in front of everyone. We started from the second E in JEEPGY, Engaged Citizenship, where we shared that through this mission, we, the youth, will become one to engage in activities to make society better. The cooperation of everyone is very important in this mission and is highly needed. We went through the “P”, Poverty reduction, where each one of us can be a part of the solution to reduce poverty, starting in little ways. Lastly, the “Y”, Youth Empowerment. The youth needs to be empowered and believed in. As our national hero said, “Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan.” We want to make it. We want to live by this.
Plan

[2021]
This year, we plan to encourage everyone to give a lending hand to others in this time of pandemic through different social media platforms. By this, having a lot of people know what's going on and how others can give help and support, TAPAK will ensure that we will help with everything that we've got.

[2020]
This year, we plan to encourage everyone to give a lending hand to others by means of collecting donations or coins per section. With our red TAPAK boxes, we can collect the money which can be used for funds and for donations whenever it is needed.
